Not everyone is built the same way. Some are tall, some are short, some are stout, and some are just lean; some are blondes, and some are not. This is actually what makes this world wonderful and more exciting to live in such diversity, and like the people that live on Earth, not all alcoholic beverages are made the same as well. Some are sweet, some are tangy, some are hard, some are soft, some will get you drunk right away, and some just don’t.

ToggleTypical Alcohol Levels of Booze
Some people drink booze because they want to enjoy a worry-free night, with the alcohol from their drink giving them courage and somewhat removing most of their inhibitions. There are those, of course, who drink to forget certain events or problems in their lives. But as mentioned earlier, not all booze is made equal; it means that some are made to pack a really heavy punch, and some are there to tickle your fancy, and they can all be categorized according to the alcohol content they have.
There is a way of measuring the alcohol content of alcoholic beverages or booze and that is through ABV or alcohol by volume, which is the measure of ethanol in milliliters in a 100 milliliters solution. There is also what is known as alcohol proof which is double the percentage of ABV.
Categories of Booze according to Alcohol Content
There are two main categories for alcoholic beverages; these are un-distilled and distilled alcoholic beverages. Each drink contains the only form of consumable alcohol, which is Ethyl Alcohol or Ethanol in different levels, which makes some drinks categorically stronger than others.
Undistilled Alcoholic Drinks
Drinks under this category are so-called undistilled because they employ the process of fermentation in which bacteria or yeast is utilized to ferment grapes for wine and wheat, barley, and other grains to produce beer.
- Beer
- Wine
- Saké
- Mead
- Hard Cider
Distilled Alcoholic Drinks
Distilled alcoholic drinks are beverages that have gone through the process of distillation. A process in which the excess water and other liquids found in the fermented drink is removed through the process of evaporating the excess water followed by condensating the remaining liquid resulting in a more concentrated form of alcohol.
- Brandy
- Gin
- Whiskey
- Tequila
- Everclear
- Rum
- Vodka

But though they may be sweet, they also pack a punch.
The Original Irish Cream bottle of Bailey’s contains about 17% ABV for a cream liqueur, and since it is a distilled spirit, it has a more concentrated form of alcohol compared to undistilled alcoholic drinks. The bottom line is that people with low alcohol tolerance can probably feel the effects of this cream liqueur in 3-4 shots, while most average drinkers might feel woozy by 8-9 shots.
